About This
Tour

The 14 Day Ultimate Guatemala Adventure Tour is for the rider who not only has a passion for adventure, but also for exploring other cultures. This tour circumnavigates Guatemala and takes you through all the most amazing and historic landmarks. We’ll travel a mix of pavement and dirt, wind up and down through mountains, around volcanoes, across valleys and rivers, and even ride down the beach! On this tour you will see Semuc Champey, Tikal, Lake Atitlan, Rio Dulce, and many more exciting locations.

Itinerary
Day 1

Airport Pick-Up

Welcome to Guatemala! We meet you at La Aurora Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City with a private shuttle and bring you to the historic town of Antigua for the night (45 minute drive).

Day 2

Volcanoes of Antigua

4 hours riding, 0-35% off pavement
We will meet at our shop where we will familiarize you with your bike and have a briefing about the tour. We’ll then go on a Cultural ride in the foothills and villages surrounding Antigua. We’ll have nice volcano views and get adjusted the bikes.

The rest of the afternoon will be yours to wander the beautiful cobblestone streets of Antigua. We will help you get local currency today if needed.

Day 3

North to the Mountains

6 hours riding, 20-40% off pavement
Today is our first big day of riding. We’ll be on the road before 9am and will leave town going North on scenic windy roads. On our way to Coban we will have 50km of intermediate level dirt roads as we criss cross through the mountains.

Day 4

Across the River

6 hours riding, 25% off pavement
After a hearty breakfast we’ll continue North and drop huge elevation into the lowlands of Guatemala. The temperatures will raise and the scenery will become more lush. We’ll load the bikes onto a make-shift barge to cross river Sayaxche. Once across we’ll run some exciting two lane roads to the Island of Flores, where we stay for the night.

Day 5

Explore Tikal

The tremendous Mayan ruins of Tikal are just a short ride from Flores. Tikal is one of the ancient wonders of Central America and is a must-see as we are passing through.

Day 6

A Nice Place to Stay

5 hours riding, 20% off pavement
We will have nice pavement today and some fun jungle 2-tracks on our way to Rio Dulce. Once there we’ll have a few activities available; a boat tour on the river, a visit to the San Felipe Castle, or swimming in hot springs. We’ll spend the night in private bungalows in a jungle lodge on the river.

Day 7

Over to Lanquin

6 hours riding, 75% off pavement
We’ll hug the coast of Lake Isabal on a mix of pavement and gravel roads. When we reach the end of the lake the road begins to narrow as it winds us up the mountains of Altaverapaz. Today will be mostly dirt riding and an incredible thrill. The roads are very twisty with great vistas from all the mountain peaks. Tonight we will again stay in a nice Jungle lodge and relax by the river..

Day 8

Semuc Champey

Today we’ll relax in the natural blue pools of Semuc Champey, one of the most popular destinations in Guatemala. There is a cave system to explore, waterfalls, and even natural water-slides.

Day 9

Westward Bound

5 hours riding, 15% off pavement
Today we’ll be riding to the region of Guatemala known as Quiche. This is the heartland of the Quiche people, a Mayan indigenous people. This ride will predominantly be up and down the mountains of foothills of the region. We’ll do a mix of pavement a dirt and see what life is like in central Guatemala.

Day 10

To Lake Atitlan

4 hours riding, 20% off pavement
The destination for today is Panajachel, a quaint town on the edge of gorgeous Lake Atitlan. On the way we’ll pass through Chichicastenango, which has the largest public air market in all of Central America. We’ll enjoy a breath taking sunset, and a similar sunrise the next morning.

Day 11

Around the Lake

3 hours riding, mostly pavement
We’ll circumnavigate the lake and in the process we’ll be greeted by stunning views and great photo opportunities. The volcanoes jutting up around the lake are truly a sight to behold. We’ll have a relaxing afternoon in the Mayan village of San Pedro on the south side of the lake, and stay in a comfortable hotel with lake views.

Day 12

The Pacific Coast

5.5 hours riding, 10% off pavement
In the morning we’ll have fun twisting roads on the backside of San Pedro Volcano. We’ll slowly make our way south, dropping about 6,000 feet of elevation until we are on the Pacific Coast of Guatemala. There will be long sand roads along the coast that bring us to our bungalow hotel on the beach.

Day 13

Back to Antigua

3 to 6 hours riding, 50% off pavement
Riding back to Antigua will take us through the sugar cane fields (a major economy in Guatemala). We’ll climb from 0 up to 7,000 feet above sea level as we ride up the two of the largest Volcanoes in the country. We’ll have some exciting dirt sections today, and the possibility of crossing several rivers.

Day 14

Airport Drop-Off

Goodbyes are always sad, but you’re headed to the airport, and we’ll get you there. Our shuttle takes you to the airport for your departure.
